Hello Reader,

Talking about money with family can be… an experience. Somewhere between assembling IKEA furniture and explaining technology to your parents. But here’s the thing—having a solid plan in place now can save you (and them) from a lot of stress later.

I’m Chad Holmes, founder of Formula Wealth and author of
The Inheritance Playbook: Helping Your Parents Pass the Torch, Not the Tax. With over a decade in personal finance and accounting, I created Formula Wealth as a boutique firm where I can devote more time to fewer clients, delivering measurable value at the individual level.

My goal? To help families—especially those in their 50s and 60s who are juggling aging parents and their own retirement planning—avoid unnecessary taxes, financial headaches, and the all-too-common “I wish we had done this sooner” regrets.

Let’s be honest: wealth management and estate planning aren’t exactly dinner table conversation. (Unless you’re at my house—then it’s the coolest. My five year old loves it!) But this newsletter will make it easier, more approachable, and maybe even a little entertaining!

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Straightforward Financial Insights – No Wall Street jargon, just practical information.
  • Estate Planning Do’s & Don’ts – Because "I'll just figure it out later" is NOT a strategy.
  • Common Questions, Answered – Like, “Why is the government so obsessed with my money?”
  • Real-World Stories – The good, the bad, and the avoidable estate planning mistakes.

If you’ve ever wondered “What should I be doing right now to protect my family’s wealth?”—you’re in the right place.

Got a burning question or a family financial horror story? Hit reply and let me know. I just might feature it (anonymously, of course) in a future issue.

To fewer taxes and smarter planning,

Chad Holmes, CFP®, CPA, CPWA®
